Parents must first submit an application to the program. The application
request including, but not limited to child's demographics, strenghts
and weakness, behavior problems, treatment history, daily schedule, current
level functioning, pertinent medical information. Following receipt of
application, One Autism contacts the parents for additional information and
initial observation and initial set up appointment.
*Observation
Parents are asked to bring the child to the
center for initial observation and data for the coming treatment.
*Treatment
Formulation
After the initial
observation the Behavior Consultant completes any research necessary and
formulates a treatment package consisting of several treatment options. The
consultant then schedules an appointment to evaluate the plan and make
appropriate adjustments.
* Treatment
Implementation
Treatment often begins early as the second
visit. The Behavioral Consultant trains parents and works with the child to
implement plans. Over the course of the child's treatment the behavior
consultant remains the lead therapist until the plan is reviewed and changes
need to be made.
*Commitment
As with any behavioral treatment program, the child's ultimate
success is highly dependent on the commitment of the child's entire family to
adhere to the treatment plan and perhaps undergo considerable changes
in lifestyle. Parents must be prepared to invest significant portions of
time practicing skills with the child and or collecting data. Data collection
alone can span several weeks before and after the implementation of
treatment.
*Fees
Behavioral consultation fees are billed
on an hourly basis. Parents are additionally responsible for incidental costs,
including but not limited to cosultant travel or materials necessary to
implement treatment.
